We Are Proud to Sponsor the Proton Competition Porsche Racing Team
What do motorsports actually have to do with the planning and construction of data centers?
Selim Kuzu: Much more than people think at first glance. In both motorsports and the construction of modern data centers, everything revolves around precision, speed, and absolute reliability. In motorsports, success or failure is often decided within milliseconds. In data centers, even the smallest deviations can create major consequences.
Both fields require top-level engineering, technical expertise, endurance, and most importantly, the flawless coordination of many different disciplines. In motorsports, during a race, we usually only see the final result on the track. However, the hundreds of processes behind it, the countless tests, and the efforts of people working on aerodynamics, chassis, engines, thermal management, electronics, or software often remain invisible.
The same level of coordination can also be seen in the planning and construction processes of data centers. Here as well, many areas of expertise — from power infrastructure and cooling systems to IT infrastructure, security systems, and intelligent control technologies — must work together seamlessly. Everything operates toward one common goal: maximum performance, stability, and efficiency.
That is why I see a very strong connection between motorsports and data centers. Both worlds represent innovation, precision, and high-level teamwork. Of course, personal passion also plays an important role. Motorsports has always been a hobby of mine. Porsche Carrera Cup, in particular, holds a very special place for me — especially in Germany, where both Porsche and motorsports carry a long tradition and strong emotional value.
"What makes the Porsche Carrera Cup so special?"
Selim Kuzu: The Porsche Carrera Cup is truly legendary. Especially in Germany, it is considered one of the most prestigious single-make racing series in motorsports. The cars are extremely powerful, yet they remain relatively close to production vehicles. This ensures that all drivers compete under very similar conditions. So it is not only about technology — it is primarily about driver skill. The atmosphere is also completely unique. Being this close to a true racing legend makes the series exceptional.
A tremendous amount of work goes into these cars. They are prepared under very strict regulations. Even though all vehicles share the same configuration, there are countless details that are continuously optimized: aerodynamics, tires, suspension systems, software updates… Everything has to be adjusted perfectly. That is very similar to data centers, where every component — from servers to cooling systems — must be optimized to deliver maximum performance.
"People actually only see the result of years of work. In the end, that three- or four-hour process becomes the showcase of years of effort."
Selim Kuzu: Yes, absolutely. In the end, people only see the race, the result, the speed, and the excitement. But behind it are months or even years of planning, testing, and optimization. And just like in motorsports, that invisible effort ultimately becomes the most important factor determining success.
"This would not be possible without the harmony of people working very closely together."
Selim Kuzu: Absolutely. It requires flawless teamwork where specialists work hand in hand, contribute their knowledge and experience, and continuously improve every aspect. That dynamism and passion are exactly what make both motorsports and data center construction so special. In the end, it is not only about technology, but also about the synergy people create together.
"But especially for us men, a little smell of gasoline does not hurt either. I think every man needs a bit of exhaust noise and engine sound."
Selim Kuzu: That is one of the most fascinating aspects of it. The sound, the feeling of raw power… Especially for engineers like us, who spend most of the day behind desks, it creates a very emotional balance. A sense of freedom, an outlet. And in many ways, it aligns perfectly with the level of performance we aim to deliver in the technical world.
"How did the sponsorship idea come about?"
Selim Kuzu: It actually developed entirely from my personal passion for motorsports. I realized how strong these parallels were, and I wanted to use that passion to help push data center investments even further. The Porsche Carrera Cup provided such an iconic platform that, for me, it became the perfect way to focus on precision, innovation, and teamwork.
